Man Rec
“Man Rec” means “Only Me” in Wolof, the most talked language in Senegal, Amala Dianor’s country of birth. This new work, choreographed and interpreted by Amala, offers a dialogue between his diverse origins, from urban to contemporary and African dances, that he brings together as one. Man Rec’s starting point is the complex nature of Man, his identity, his relationship to his own kind and to society. Through this bold statement using the energies of the dances that brought him here, Amala explores his many “I”s, uncovering their rawness and letting them vanish one after the other until they make room for this other “I”, facing itself and standing before you.
