Mélanie Roger

Deputy Director

Having earned a degree from the AUDENCIA Business school in Nantes, Mélanie ROGER has for 18 years developed a number of creative projects in the dance and plastic arts worlds.

She worked with the Ballet Preljocaj, Centre Chorégraphique National d’Aix-en-Provence as production and touring director from 2004 to 2008, as well as being an direction comity member of Pavillon Noir. From 2010 to 2018, she worked with a number of independent dance companies, helping to develop and structure their projects, working with Abou Lagraa/ La Baraka (2010-2014), Emanuel Gat Dance (2016-2018) and Cie MAD Sylvain Groud as well as with the Ballet du Nord, CCN de Roubaix (2010-2018). In 2018, she accepted the post of assistant director of the Cie DCA Philippe Decouflé, leaving there in 2020 to begin working with the Kaplan Association led by the choreographer Amala Dianor, as deputy director. Since 2021, she has also worked with the Epidémic team to develop projects by Saburo Teshigawara andRihoko Sato, Shiro Takatani and Ulf Langheinrich. She is often asked to consult on the structuring of various artists’ projects.

As both a committed fan and a dance expert, she has consulted on the dance programming at the prestigious Louvre Museum since 2019. Working with cultural partners like FIAC or Paris l’été Festival or on special events for the Museum she has worked on projects with, among others, François Chaigneau and Cecilia Bengolea, Dimitri Chamblas with Kim Gordon, Amala Dianor, Emanuel Gat, Wayne Mc Gregor, BBoy Junior, Ohad Naharin/La Batcheva, Leïla Ka, Marion Motin, Rachid Ouramdane … In 2006/2007, she was in charge of dance programming for the Théâtre de St Quentin-en-Yvelines, presenting pieces by Germaine Acogny, Philippe Decoufflé, La Petite Fabrique, Anne Teresa de Keersmaeker, Edouard Lock, Peeping Tom, François Verret...

Since 2014, she has also been the curator and producer of visual arts projects by the photographer and videographer Grégoire Korganow. With him she worked on the concept for the photographic series Sortie de scène (Stage exit), produced by the Montpellier Dance Festival (2014) and L’instant d’avant (The instant before), commissioned by Chaillot – National Dance Theatre (2020). She was the initiator of video-dance projects : Chroniques dansées (Danced chronicles) featuring dance with mentally/physically challenged audiences, and the CinéDanse series with Amala Dianor. She has also produced exhibitions, notably Proche (Close) at the Church of the Célestins at the 75 th Avignon Festival (2021) Priso ns at the European Photography Center in Paris (2015), in China under the auspices of the Crossroads Festival and in Brazil with the French Consulate in Rio de Janeiro (2016).
