Denis Lachaud

Writer

Denis Lachaud is a writer, director and actor. Editions Actes Sud has published eight of his novels: J’apprends l’allemand, La Forme profonde, Comme personne, Le Vrai est au coffre, Prenez l’avion, J’apprends l’hébreu, Ah ! Ça ira... and Les Métèques. He also published a novel with the Editions du Chemin de fer: L’Homme inépuisable (The inexhaustible man], illustrated by Ulrika Byttner. Le Silence d'Ingrid Bergman, his tenth novel, will be published by Actes Sud in March 2022.

Seven of his plays have been published by Actes Sud-Papiers: Hetero, Ma Forêt fantôme, Moi et ma bouche, L’Une, La Magie lente, Survie and La Rivière. More recently, three others were published by Esse Que Éditions: Jubiler, L'Archipel and NBA. His texts have been the basis for stage productions by Pierre Notte, Jean-Philippe Naas, Vincent Dussart, Thomas Condemine, Vincent Rafis and Bruno Lajara in France, in the USA by Arthur Nauzyciel, Francisco Alves (Portugal), Maria Zachenska (Slovakia) and Pierre Notte (Spain). From 2007 to 2016 he was an Associated Writer at the Centre Dramatique National Orléans/ Loiret/ Centre (under the direction of Arthur Nauzyciel). In 2019, he created Xamûma fane lay dem/Je ne sais pas où je vais [I don’t know where I am going], a duo with Amala Dianor, for the Concordan(s)e Festival. He is also a member of the La Forge Collective, with whom he has co-written five pieces: Fées Diverses, Et le travail?, Nous sommes ici, Hors-la-République? (Editions Dumerchez) and Un Bord de monde (Helvétius).
